Church Court Decisions on Arminianism ..and why

Matthew 7:18-23  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.   Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.   Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?   And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Arminianism is also called a works-based gospel, decisional regeneration ( you supposedly ‘decide for Jesus’ as a work you perform with your will, “and then” you ( may be , in some forms of that lie)  ‘are’ born again, etc.. ) and various forms of innovation on Justification. There is a reason you find it described in a variety of ways: it is always the same attack against the church hiding in a multitude of terms because it all derives from non-creating speech; it doesn’t have one big book to draw out of for its terms, but it is simply part an entire language that hates God and in particular hates Jesus Christ as the Word of God.

Not in chronological order, but in order found through a very quick use of search engines looking up the search phrase:         (  “church court” another gospel )

1. RCUS Synod Declares Views of Norman Shepherd to be another gospel

search terms are in bold ..note the reference to Shepherds teachings being against the Canons of Dort among other Church documents. I.E. The Church affirms the Canons of Dort to be the truth. Note as well the concern over the harm the doctrines were doing, such that a statement had to be made. Shepherd was dismissed from the OPC seminary for teaching his doctrines in the 1980’s. He then simply moved to another denomination and went right on with his heresy. The statement on his heresy as a denominational statement came in 2004.

“The 258th Synod of the Reformed Church in the United States (RCUS) voted on May 13, 2004, to declare the views of Professor Norman Shepherd to be another gospel. The RCUS took this action in approving the report of a Committee to Study the Doctrine of Justification, which it had established last year. Without dissent, the court declared: ì1) That we affirm the biblical doctrine of justification by faith alone, including the imputation of the active obedience of Christas a necessary element in our righteousness before God, as it is expressed in the Three Forms of Unity. . . ;î 2) ìThat we find that Rev. Norman Shepherd for many years has taught a confused doctrine of justification, contrary to the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dordt . . . ;î 3) ìTherefore we also resolve that the teachings of Rev. Norman Shepherd on justification by faith are another gospel and we admonish Rev. Shepherd and call upon him to repent of his grievous errors; and 4) ìThat the Reformed Church in the United States recognize these Romish, Arminian, and Socinian errors for what they are, and urge our brethren throughout the world to reject them and refuse those who hold them.

2. in the same document, ( a newsletter ) it is reported that the OPC, affirmed a conviction of heresy regarding a ruling elder and sustained the original verdict ( they did not overturn the verdict of heresy..) :

Concern has been expressed widely regarding these matters. Last yearís OPC General Assembly sustained the appeal of Ruling Elder John Kinnaird, who had been convicted of teaching contrary to the historic doctrine of justification.

3. The PCA’s “ Report of Ad Interim Study Committee on Federal Vision, New Perspective, and Auburn Avenue Theologies

Actual and non-metaphorical new birth in Jesus Christ, justification by faith alone, perseverance of the saints, election are all swept aside by the Arminian Federal Vision and New Perspective on Paul in the guise of new biblical research and are condemned as false teachings. While those systems attack the new birth in Jesus Christ piecemeal and not as one overt statement ( and thus rightly deserve the term “fog”  applied them  as they seek to disguise their true intent and actual heresy ), what they actually do is hold forth another gospel that births none. The PCA affirmed this when they said of the “Federal Vision  “Moreover, this contradicts our Standards by divorcing election from perseverance; for the FV, election becomes a benefit that can be lost..

i.e. the Federal Vision was simply Arminianism: a works based salvation which could be lost if you didn’t hold to their legalism. It was simply a stab at making the Church more Romanist by making it more high church / priestly-authority centered. You supposedly “fall away from Christ” if you stop going to their Church, no matter what they say or do. It is a straightforward cult on the order of C. Peter Wager, Vineyard and others who style themselves Apostles and say whatever they say individually or as a “council” trumps Scripture after they have denied that God is in you as making you a new creature in Jesus Christ. They think it clever to use ecclesiastical terms so that most will have no understanding of what they are actually saying or in what speech they are saying it. After they have ignored the distinction between God as Word and Anti-Christ, and taught others to be as blind as they are, thereafter they simply mix and match terms in confusing ways so the average person in the pew will simply stare blankly at them and being deceived that being nice is being righteous, that being mice is being righteous, will nod dutifully and say “Amen.” on que.

That some of them may hate peculiar Romanist doctrines of saint worship or purgatory, the ‘real presence’ and such does not detract that they are all essential Arminians and Romanist who simply want their own franchise of that free will heresy. In the end, all of their doctrines can be summed with “If you don’t use the free will correctly, you won’t be in heaven. The defining of that correct way is our job”. That there is no free will is something they do not want to see as it simply blows their whole circus out of the water.

The craft of Satan through them never stops: after losing the campaign to overthrow the faith of as many as possible amongst a group of persons who at the least God used to compare historical affirmations by brethren in former years as church leaders, they immediately keep on with being nice as a supposed proof of their high moral character, saying such things as “Second, I think it would be spiritually healthy for us on our side of the line to ask for God’s particular blessing to fall on some of the men who were instrumental in getting this report accepted — R.C. Sproul, Lig Duncan, et al. As my father has taught me, God requires us to love our neighbors, our wives, all men, and our enemies.”, etc.

The sad truth is that it takes those of even the strongest denominations eons to actually come to the place to put out certain men and their teachings. In the past, a true pastor as a true man of God usually did not survive in one place over three to five years. When God is telling His people their sins, the servant who is used to deliver that message never wins popularity contests. He is there for a time and leaves. A new man of God comes in and ..starts over. That’s the calling. It is not pretty. Historically, the denominational structure sided on the side of the pastor as opposed to the people in the pew over disputes for that reason. Nowadays, the pastors by far are all teaching some form of Arminianism that has been mixed with Calvinism in a kind of “one from column A and two from column B” style menu that is designed to cover any heresy by running back to the Calvinistic side of their heterodoxy when called on it to keep uppermost in the mind of the church their Calvinistic front while the doctrines of free will and arminianism wreak havoc in the people and in government. While there are some who outright say they are proud Arminians, the most are a mixed bag who cloak what they really believe in order to overthrow the faith of many by degrees and by obscuring plain truths in Mystery Speech rather than in a frontal assault style of the overt proud Arminian. Yet the historical protection of pastors still remains in effect as a literal respect for tradition; the most appalling excesses are not only supported, but even when found out later, little or nothing is done as pastors circle the wagons for each other. One evil man can stay in the denomination for decades, both as a pastor and as seminary teacher, pumping out his lies in new adherents who must say what they were taught in order to validate the effort to go to seminary at all. Thus the whole gets a bad name and once in ten or twenty years is a case ever brought to trial.

Sidenote: Anyone familiar with such knows perfectly well that having “a theocracy” is the very last thing anyone wants as a governmental model. The accusations by those atheists and others that Calvinists want “a theocracy” or are Dominionists is quite bizarre. There are those who loose patience with those who are elected to do justice and righteousness and they immediately do wickedness. But a Theocracy as putting church leaders as governmental offices is detested by any one with a small amount of common sense.

In addition, as a product of their own outlook, the Arminians have succeeded to some degree in making a supposed scandal out of questioning whether they are true brethren in Christ, in seeking to hide they preach another gospel, but in treating what they say as doing ‘the’ gospel. The pretense they maintain is that at worst, it really doesn’t matter what you believe or think as a theological doctrine and Arminianism is simply one more form of one indivisible doctrine. That in itself is simply a PR ploy to make them seem to be doing Christian virtues of forgiveness and charity for their detractors, a standard ploy of all enemies of the true gospel as out-nicing those of Christ as supposed evidence of the superiority of their lies over Christ.

The truth is also plain that what they do has consequences: it is a false gospel that saves none and in addition simply does not work to bless or protect those who hold it from the guile of Satan on a host of other issues. Indeed, the very fact they champion the free will of man opens the door to appalling abuse they must support simply to keep up the lie of free will. Thus they become the moral underpinnings of public immorality and organized crime as governance, each of whom always cry “Free Will!” and point to supposed theological doctrines that champion the free will and appeal to the sense of order that Arminians say God has wrought as justice and Salvation. The Romanist to a certain degree excel all others as functionally defining the purpose of the Church to be the defense of the doctrine of human free will.

A good example of what they do in terms of national security is the teaching of young soldiers that they must at the least get angry at their enemies and/or hold them in a peculiar emotional state in their minds and hearts in order to recognize them as enemies ..to differentiate them from friendly forces as a correct use of the ‘free will’. When the reality of battle is revealed that hating and other emotional recognition schemes of enemies not only does not work but is detrimental to winning battles and wars, the young and old soldier do not then doubt who is the enemy, as the fruit of the enemy makes him plain enough,  ..but the morality of being at war at all. That was the purpose of the lie of free will: to seem to be of benefit as a quick ‘motivation’ to gather an army, but to make those that join seem to find out that what they are fighting against and what they are fighting for is not what it was represented to be and that they are themselves immoral to protect their own hearth and homes. Yet to this hour the Arminian lie and its offshoots are taught as doctrine to US troops as a series of constant quicky motivational widgets that let the solder down repeatedly and Chaplains are for the most part chosen that fit that model. Many do not see they were lied to as what reality is and that they do not have free will, but instead are deceived that they have free will and have been given false doctrines of how to use it, which calls into question why they are fighting at all.

The pointing out and denouncing the false gospel then is not simply a question that those who are supposed theologically inclined in self-will like to parse between themselves as a geeky attention to detail, not at all something a theological guy would pay attention to but a jock or a governmental officer, technical person or a scientist should care less about, but has to do with moral legitimacy of government and security of that morally legitimate government among other issues. Those who hold to the free will of man always run government as a functional organized crime family. One administration of such is less or more obvious in its criminality than others and a “conservative versus liberal” false dichotomy is established in the public eye while the public eye is fixed on an ideal of human free will supported in the guise of being a church by the Arminian doctrines.

Plainly Arminianism versus Calvinism is about far more and has far reaching consequences than just some theological geeks each selfishly fighting for their own opinion to be supreme as the Arminians would have everyone deceived within the lie of human free will. It is the false gospel that births none in Jesus Christ and thus all its doctrines are concerned with managing the behavior of all people “so they will be saved” by doing the ‘correct’ actions. It is the enemy of all free people and always ends in tyranny and oppression while it cries out “Free will! Free will!”.

I posted the church decisions I found the quickest and are also the most recent and the list is by no means complete either by denomination or by date. I do so to make plain that what you are seeing as a public face of Arminianism from the “reformed” camp are for the most part those who have been cast out as false teachers and their students and who never tell you they have been cast out and their doctrines denounced.

I do not at all post this to imply that others have understood that sin is a living creature or to imply that the Word of God needs any support of man to be effective. Only that at least there are many, many souls who have been given the grace to see that Arminianism is a lie. There are some doctrines popular with the Reformed community that are simply products of having in past times admitted to communion those who were all along Arminians and wolves.

Jude 1:3,4  Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.   For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen
